Fourth Sunday after Pentecost

The Homily today reflects on being a sower of seeds. Jesus told stories of how seeds fell on different types of soil, and at different depths, and how they grew. Christ uses one illustration in which he tells us the seed sown in good soil is the person who hears the word and understands it, this is the person that bears fruit. Father Swann reminded us that while we are called to be a sower of seeds for the grace that God has shown us we may not see the immediate rewards. As Christians we are called to reflect on the life we live and sow seeds of love, compassion, and understanding. We affirm to respect each person and to treat them with dignity. What better seed could we sow? What would the world look like if we truly lived as if we would reap the harvest of what we sowed? We come together on Sunday to celebrate the Resurrection power of Christ and to attempt to follow him in all we do. Therefore, let us live boldly and unapologetically the life Christ would call good soil so that our seeds would turn into a harvest. Amen.

Collect:
O LORD, mercifully receive the prayers of your people who call upon you, and grant that they may know and understand what things they ought to do, and also may have grace and power faithfully to accomplish them; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
